Week 9: Joseph
This week we learned about Joseph. Joseph was the favorite son of Jacob.
We’ve heard a lot about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but did you know that one of the longest stories in the Bible is about Joseph? He must be a pretty important person!
When Joseph was a teenager, his father Jacob made him a special robe.
It wasn’t a choir robe.
It wasn’t a bathrobe.
It was a robe of many colors.
Jacob gave it to Joseph because he was his favorite son.
That very quickly made Joseph the least favorite brother.
Joseph’s life would be a lot of bad then good then bad again, then really good! Joseph loved and served God.

Review questions:
What are some of the hard things that happened to Joseph? He was sold by his brothers, put in prison, accused of things he didn’t do.
How did God use those hard things for good? God brought Him to Egypt, put him in charge of helping feed all the people.
What mean things did Joseph’s brothers do to him? Threw him in a pit and sold him
How did Joseph act towards his brothers when he saw them again in Egypt? He said all the bad things were used for good.
Like Joseph, Jesus was treated very badly by others. In fact, he was killed. How did God use Jesus’ death for good? to save the world!
PRETEEN DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
What are some hard things that happened to Joseph and how did God use them for good? What does that show us about God?
What do you think that Joseph was thinking when he was in the pit or in prison? How does Joseph’s story give us confidence that God is with us and at work even during the hard times?
What can we learn from how Joseph responded to his brothers in Egypt? How would you have responded to them after the many awful things they did?
