Week 10: Slaves in Egypt/ Moses
Tonight, we learned about the slaves in Egypt & Moses!
The book of Genesis ended with the story of Joseph. Remember that messy story that had a happy ending? Things worked out for Joseph because God was with Him. God used the bad in his life for good.
The book of Exodus starts with a sad note. In Exodus 1, we learn that Joseph and all his brothers die. The Israelite people grew and grew until there were so many of them. (Remember the promise God gave Abraham? Remember the stars promise? It’s coming true!)
Remember how the old Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all of Egypt? The new Pharaoh didn’t even know who Joseph was. The memory of the hero of Egypt quickly faded. The new Pharaoh only cared for the Egyptians. He made the Israelites his slaves.
God would raise up a man named Moses to help deliver his people out of this land to a new land He promised to them!
